I made a mash out of fresh aloe Vera gel from my plant, and added the rest of the ingredients. I applied a small amount on the inside of my wrist. There was an immediate cooling effect. It was not an ice cold sensation, rather a gentle coolness with a purpose. I could feel the coolness penetrating the different layers of skin. the epidermis layer felt cold and coated. after a about 10 minutes I could feel the coolness going deeper, penetrating the Dermis layer. I had a cold sensation and I could observe tiny hair standing up. After about 30 minutes I felt tightening of the Epidermis, slight warming of the edges, feeling elasticity and softness, indicating that the paste had penetrated to the blood vessels and increased the blood flow.
The Rasa of aloe vera and rosewater is tikta and kashaya, adding sweetness from the rose and chandana. All 3 ingredients have an undeniable cooling veerya.
I can see the sweet vipaka after 30 minutes. The cool softness of the skin. The epidermis felt nourished and strengthened.
I could also feel the gunas of heavy, which felt plastered when I first applied the paste, and then lightening during the drying (dry) process.
In conclusion, aloe vera, rosewater, chandana paste can be used to cool burns, insect bits and scrapes, but avoided when a deep wounds needs warmth to heal.
