What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda was passed down to us from our ancestors, and must be shared with authenticity for our children. Yoga Veda exists to steward wisdom, and we take that responsibility with the weight that it deserves. We believe Ayurveda is Divine wisdom, and we take great care to pass it on, through our mentors, through our classes, through our clinical trainings, and through our curriculum in depth, authenticity, and rigor it demands. is You.
The knowledge of life.
Not the knowledge of disease — of life itself.
Āyurveda is five thousand years old. It did not survive by accident. It survived because it works — not for a category of patient, not for a symptom, not for a season, but for the whole human being in every condition of life.
Other systems of medicine ask: what is wrong with this person? Āyurveda asks first: who is this person? What is their nature? What does this particular body need in order to flourish — not as a general body, but as this one, with this history, in this season, at this stage of life?
This medicine does not separate the body from the mind, or the mind from the spirit. It does not separate the individual from the season they are in, or the season from the cosmos that governs it. Jyotiṣa — Vedic astrology — is a clinical tool, not a curiosity. The position of the planets at birth tells a practitioner something that no physical examination alone can reveal. Vāstu Śāstra — the architecture of sacred space — is medicine for the home. The subtle body is anatomy, not metaphor. The soul has its own pathology and its own cure.
None of this is peripheral. All of it is the medicine. A school that teaches fragments of Āyurveda is not teaching Āyurveda. It is teaching a Western-legible version of it — cleaned of the parts that resist reduction.
We teach the whole thing.
You have felt this medicine before you studied it. In the way you instinctively reach for warmth when you are depleted, for stillness when you are overwhelmed, for something bitter when your digestion is slow. In the way the seasons move through you as much as around you. In the way certain foods feel like medicine and others like confusion. Āyurveda names what you have already been experiencing. It gives it language, structure, and depth.
That is why people who find this medicine tend to say the same thing: it feels like remembering, not learning. As if the knowledge was always there, waiting for the right words to make it conscious.
It is not about becoming someone else.It is about returning to what you have always been.
