Randall, My experience with the tastes was simular, but i did not taste any salt but a slight hint of sweetness. Dr. Lad mentioned that Triphala changes the taste depending on what your body needs. I found that to be pretty true for myself. Some days I only taste astringent other times the first taste is bitter.
