Jacky Rae is a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner (NAMA) and Clinical Yoga Therapist (IAYT). She specializes in Ayurvedic yoga therapy, Ayurvedic cleansing & nutrition and is the co-founder and acting director of Yoga Veda Institute.
As an expert in both Ayurveda and Clinical Yoga Therapy, the importance of creating a comprehensive curriculum that not only combined these two often distinct fields of study but integrated them seamlessly was the vision behind Yoga Veda Institute. Yoga & Ayurveda are not “Sister Sciences” they are one in the same, two sides of the same coin, inseparable by nature and interdependent of one another. Yoga Veda Institute is the leader in the field of Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy and offers the only curriculum in the world designed not only to meet; but exceed the standards of both the International Association of Yoga Therapists and the National Ayurvedic Medical Association.
Jacky grew up in the state of Michigan in the United States. At the tender age of 18, she became a borderless globetrotter and has since never looked back. After living and working throughout the Caribbean and still in her mid-twenties her travels took her to the foothills of the Himalaya in northern India. It was during her time in the Himalayas studying ancient yogic philosophy, pranayama, meditation, asana, reflexology, and reiki that her eyes were opened to the wonderful teachings of Ayurveda.
During her travels in remote India, she became very ill and was treated by an Ayurvedic Vidya (doctor) with no less than miraculous results. This compelled her to dive into the studies of Ayurvedic therapies and massage at the Braham Yoga, Ayurveda and Natural Healing school in Rishikesh, India. She continued her studies into Ayurvedic Medicine with the San Diego College of Ayurveda and was awarded the title of Ayurvedic Practitioner.
She is a professional member and serves on the membership committee of The National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA) and is a supporting member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She spent four years as the Director of Panchakarma at the Monte Vista Retreat Center, a well-known healing center in South Thailand. Jackie was awarded the title Yoga Sironami by the Vastu School of Yoga, in the traditional Hatha Yoga lineage of Swami Sivananda. Her teachers, both students of Bharata a direct disciple of Swami Vishnu Devananda and her teachings clearly reflect this beautiful and authentic lineage of Hatha Yoga.
Jacky serves her community through a holistic approach to yoga education offering a broad-based scope of advanced training that far exceeds any current standards. Her passion is bringing the holistic healing aspects Ayurveda back into the traditional teachings of Hatha Yoga.
