Programs Hours: Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) and Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP)

 

The Yoga Veda Institute of Ayurvedic Medicine is committed to delivering high-quality education in Ayurvedic medicine, adhering to the standards set forth by the Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission (AAC). Our AHC and AP programs are designed to equip students with a deep understanding of Ayurvedic principles and practices, blending traditional knowledge with modern educational methodologies. Outlined below are the structured hours, including live and asynchronous components, for both programs, demonstrating our commitment to educational excellence and student success.

 

Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) Program Overview

Total Program Hours: 600 hours minimum, designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in Ayurvedic principles and practice.

Distribution of Hours

Residential In-Person Hours: 180 minimum, focusing on practical, hands-on learning and direct interaction with faculty and peers in a classroom or clinic setting.

Distance Learning Hours: 420 minimum, with specifics as follows:

  • Synchronous Online Learning Hours (Live Streamed): 240 Hours. Facilitates real-time interaction between students, clients, and teachers in a virtual classroom setting.
  • Asynchronous Hours: Up to 180 hours maximum. Utilizing digital platforms for coursework accessible at the students’ convenience, without real-time teacher interaction.

Clinical Encounters

Total Clinical Encounter Hours: 75 minimum, incorporating at least 50 client encounters across observation, supervised, and independent practice, structured as follows:

  • Observation: 10 encounters maximum.
  • Supervised Practice: 10 encounters minimum, with faculty review of case reports before chikitsa.
  • Independent Practice: 10 encounters maximum.
  • Initial Consultations: At least 15 out of 50 client encounters.
  • In-Person Encounters: A minimum of 15 out of 50 client encounters should be in-person.

Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP) Program Overview

Total Program Hours: 1500 hours minimum, offering advanced training in Ayurvedic medicine with an emphasis on clinical application and practice.

Distribution of Hours

  • Residential In-Person Hours: 540 minimum, dedicated to advanced hands-on training and clinical practice in a physical setting.
  • Distance Learning Hours: 960 minimum, detailed as follows:
    • Synchronous Online Learning Hours (Live Streamed): 480 Hours. Provides interactive learning experiences through real-time virtual classroom sessions.
    • Asynchronous Hours: Up to 480 hours maximum, delivered via digital platforms for flexible learning opportunities, allowing students to engage with materials at their own pace.

Clinical Encounters

Total Clinical Encounter Hours: 225 minimum, requiring at least 150 client encounters, detailed as follows:

  • Observation: 25 encounters maximum.
  • Supervised Practice: 40 encounters minimum, ensuring comprehensive supervision and feedback.
  • Independent Practice: 30 encounters maximum.
  • Initial Consultations: At least 45 out of 150 client encounters.
  • In-Person Encounters: A minimum of 45 out of 150 client encounters must be conducted in-person.

Program Definitions and Compliance

  • Residential In-Person Hours: Direct learning experiences with faculty and students physically present.
  • Synchronous Online Learning Hours: Live, interactive sessions in a virtual classroom environment.
  • Asynchronous Learning Hours: Flexible, self-paced learning through digital coursework.
