A preceptor is a person who creates a space for Ayurveda in their community. That space can be formal or informal.

There is no single model. The preceptor creates the container. IAM provides the educational foundation.
The purpose of these is not to define the program — it's to make the possibilities visible.

Participants may optionally become IAM community members, but membership is not required to participate in your community.
You don't need a particular title. You need a desire to create a place where people can learn.

We don't require you to be an expert. We do ask you to be responsible. Preceptors agree to:
- Create a respectful, welcoming learning environment
- Represent their own qualifications honestly
- Stay within their personal scope of knowledge and practice
- Be clear about what is educational versus clinical
- Protect the integrity of IAM materials
- Use the IAM name responsibly
- Support a genuine learning community
Community Preceptor ≠ Clinical Preceptor. Our community preceptor model is designed for education, mentorship, gathering, and community-building. Students pursuing formal clinical training or board eligibility follow a separate pathway through our appropriate partner-institution relationships.
Becoming a Community Preceptor does not itself make someone a licensed healthcare provider, Ayurvedic Practitioner, or board-eligible clinician.
