Sanskrit for Ayurvedic Practitioners is a comprehensive 20-hour course designed for students of Ayurveda. You will learn to pronounce Sanskrit properly; read & write Sanskrit characters; chant mantras, sutras, and shlokas; and investigate some initial points of grammar. Classes will include lecture, exercises, discussion, chanting, and group work. Included in the course is some light homework between sessions to help form structures in your long term memory.

Introduction to Sanskrit Pronunciation and Classification of Sounds. Ganesha Gayatri Mantra.
Writing Devanagari Initial Vowels, writing Devanagari k aṇṭhya & tālavya & mūrdhanya consonants, and Sanskrit and Chanting in the Yoga Sutras.
Writing Devanagari for dantya & oṣṭhya consonants, writing Devanagari for Antaḥstha & Ūṣman consonants. Four aims of life & Chanting Ca. Sū 1.15. Writing Special Characters jña and k ṣa. Writing vowels that appear after consonants.
Reading Devanagari of compound consonants. Transliterating Yoga Sutras 1.1, 1.2, & 1.3 and Bhagavad Gita 6.5. Chanting the Prayer to Ganesha.
Reading & Writing Devanagari of compound consonants. Writing Devanagari practice. Chanting the Prayer to Saraswati.
Introduction to Sanskrit Morphology: Cases and Verb endings. Reading, writing, and translating simple Sanskrit sentences. Chanting to the Five Prāṇas.
More on Sanskrit Morphology: Cases and Verb endings. Chanting masculine and neuter nouns ending in -a. Reading, writing, and translating simple Sanskrit sentences. Transliterating and translating Vā. Sū 1.3 (Lineage of Āyurveda) & 1.6 (Three D oṣas). Chanting the Prayer to the Guru.
