Explore the historical and cultural roots of postpartum care, understanding how ancient wisdom shapes modern support.

Learn how to work with subtle energies, create a sense of sacredness, and reimagine samprāpti (pathogenesis) in the postpartum context.

Build a strong foundation in Ayurvedic postpartum care, including key principles, rituals, and essential practices.

Walk through the full postpartum journey, discovering how to support the sacred window of recovery, renewal, and bonding.

Understand special care concerns, including how to recognize when extra support or referral is needed.

Learn Ayurvedic approaches to infant care, helping new parents navigate the early days of baby bonding and bliss.

Gain essential knowledge of feeding and lactation basics, offering supportive guidance grounded in both Ayurveda and modern insights.

Discover the art of cooking for postpartum recovery, focusing on nourishing, balancing meals that rebuild strength and vitality.

Learn Ayurvedic touch techniques to support postpartum healing, from simple bodywork practices to comforting daily routines.

Competencies

Demonstrated ability and in-depth knowledge to design, implement and manage diet (ahāra), lifestyle (vihāra), herbs (dravya) and treatments (cikitsā) to support post-natal health and pathologies and care of newborns.

Demonstrated ability and in-depth knowledge to recommend and provide treatments and interventions of the following:

  • Safely and supportively apply food and lifestyle practices to the post-natal woman. See sections on food and lifestyle.
  • Support couples experiencing infertility to restore normal procreative abilities
  • Utilize herbs to support and treat post-natal women
  • Treat post-natal woman who are experiencing illness
  • Provide supportive care for newborn infants

    Christine Eck - Your Teacher

    Christine is the Founder, Director and one of the Instructors of Center for the Sacred Window Studies. She has a background as an Ayurvedic Practitioner, Educator, Group Facilitator and Birth and Postpartum Doula. She is a busy mother of 4 boys, most of whom have been brought into the world using the principles we teach. She describes Ayurvedic Postpartum Care as truly powerful and transformative, and a missing link in modern postpartum care. Christine lives in Western Massachusetts with her pack of wild boys and amazing husband. Her love of this work continues to evolve as she focuses on the subtle changes people go through not only in postpartum, but throughout life, and how attending to the heart, mind and senses during all times of transition pave the way for healing of the body. Healing for the postpartum window is applicable ongoing as we navigate life as parents, partners and people wanting to do our best in the world!
