Faculty Qualifications and Continuing Education Policy

Purpose

To ensure that all faculty members at the Ayurvedic Accreditation Commission (AAC) meet the required qualifications and continue their professional development, thereby maintaining the highest standards of education for our students.

Scope

This policy applies to all faculty members teaching within the Ayurvedic Health Counselor and Ayurvedic Practitioner programs.

Policy Statement

Faculty Qualifications

  • Ayurvedic Health Counselor Program

    • Ayurvedic Curriculum: 80% of the program must be taught by faculty who have at least 2 years of practical experience as an Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) or above. Up to 20% of the program may be taught by a graduate with less than two years of experience as an AHC or above.
    • Non-Ayurvedic Curriculum: Faculty are not required to have Ayurvedic qualifications but must possess relevant qualifications such as a degree, certification, or at least 2 years of experience in the subject matter.
  • Ayurvedic Practitioner Program

    • Ayurvedic Curriculum: 80% of the program must be taught by faculty who have at least 2 years of practical experience as an Ayurvedic Practitioner (AP) or above. Up to 20% of the program may be taught by a graduate with less than two years of experience as an AP.
    • Non-Ayurvedic Curriculum: Faculty are not required to have Ayurvedic qualifications but must possess relevant qualifications such as a degree, certification, or at least 2 years of experience in the subject matter.

Continuing Competency

  • All Ayurvedic faculty members must provide proof of Ayurvedic professional continuing education or hold a current professional certification, such as a NAMACB certification.
  • By January 1, 2026, all faculty members are required to hold an active professional certification. This ensures that faculty members engage in continuing education as mandated by their certification bodies.

Implementation

  • Yoga Veda Institute will monitor compliance with this policy through regular reviews of faculty qualifications and continuing education records.
  • Faculty members will be notified of the requirement to obtain and maintain active professional certification.
  • Yoga Veda Institute will provide support and resources to faculty members to help them meet these continuing education requirements.

Compliance

Faculty members failing to comply with this policy by the specified date will be subject to review and potential action, which may include suspension or termination of their teaching assignments until compliance is achieved.

Review and Updates

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure it remains aligned with industry standards and accreditation requirements.
