Staying at Casa Veda
Casa Veda is a quiet home in the Algarve for students who are spending time in Portugal to deepen their studies in Ayurveda.
Located in the heart of Loulé, Casa Veda offers a simple and peaceful place to live while participating in clinical residency, mentorship, or seasonal study programs.
Students often stay for several weeks or months while they complete their residency hours, or spend time immersed in study and practice.
The intention of Casa Veda is to provide a calm and supportive living environment where students can focus on learning, reflection, and daily life.
A Home Designed for Study and Simple Living
Casa Veda is a shared co-living home where a small number of students live quietly together while pursuing their studies.
Residents share the kitchen, living spaces, and daily rhythms of the home.
The environment is relaxed and respectful, allowing everyone the space to focus on their studies while enjoying the experience of living in southern Portugal.
This will become an important part of your journey — a period of slowing down, learning, and connecting more deeply with the teachings of Ayurveda.

Is this Residency right for you?
This residency is designed as a shared, month-long clinical experience for students completing their internship hours in a real clinic environment. Students live and work together during their placement, contributing to the clinic while gaining hands-on experience.
This residency is a good fit if you:
• Want to complete your clinical internship hours
• Want hands-on patient experience
• Are comfortable living in shared student housing during your residency
• Are willing to contribute to the clinic environment
• Value learning through real work and responsibility
• Feel called to serve and give back
This residency is not a good fit if you are seeking:
• Private accommodation or staying offsite during your internship
• Retreat-style experiences or vacation-style travel
• Passive observation instead of active participation
• Luxury amenities or hotel-style housing
• Classroom-based learning instead of clinic work
• A schedule designed around tourism, family travel, or outside commitments
Am I required to attend for the full month?
Yes. The residency is structured as a month-long clinical immersion, and students participate for the full duration of their placement.
We understand that not every student is able to travel for a full month or be away from home for that length of time. Students looking for shorter placements, flexible schedules, or experiences closer to home are encouraged to complete their clinical hours with one of the many Ayurvedic preceptors who offer alternative formats in the USA or abroad.
The Portugal residency is simply one pathway, designed for students seeking an immersive clinical experience while living and learning together during their internship.

A Note on the Volunteer Residency
Our Portugal residency is structured as a community-supported clinical experience.
Students participating in the residency are asked to contribute toward shared accommodation costs during their stay. These fees are intentionally kept the same as, or often lower than, typical housing costs in the region for a similar length of stay.
Unlike many programs, there are no additional internship or supervision fees beyond accommodation.
The housing contribution allows us to maintain the residency space and support the broader work of the clinic, including local community offerings and initiatives that make this training possible.
This model is intentionally symbiotic:
• Students gain meaningful clinical experience and client hours
• The residency space remains sustainable
• The clinic is able to serve the local community
Participation in the residency includes staying on-site, as the shared living environment is part of how the program remains affordable and collaborative.
For students who prefer to arrange their own housing or who are seeking a different type of experience, there are many other preceptors and clinical opportunities available. Students are welcome to pursue those options if they are a better fit.
The residency is designed for those who feel aligned with a community-based learning experience where service and training support one another.
